Pune: Biker, 22, on solo ride to Tamhini ghat goes missing

PUNE: Bike enthusiast Omkar Vijay Shete (22) went missing on Saturday morning, after he left his Shukrawar Peth residence for a solo ride to Tamhini ghat.
The Paud police said his motorcycle was found in the Tamhini ghat section on Sunday, while the last location of his cellphone was traced to Kundalika valley in Raigad district, down the ghat. Omkar’s father Vijay (59) lodged a missing person’s complaint with the Khadak police on Sunday.
Sub-inspector Rahul Ghadge of the Khadak police told TOI, “Omkar is a member of several biker groups. While his father has retired from a private company, his brother is working abroad. Omkar is an engineer working with a software firm. He has a sports bike.”
Ghadge said, “On Saturday morning, Omkar got ready for a solo bike ride. He informed his father that he was going to Tamhini ghat and left around 7am. After Saturday evening, he lost touch with his father. The parents then called up his friends. They also visited Tamhini ghat section and approached the Paud police,” he said.
