Nagpur: 1,000+ Covid cases in 21 days of June

NAGPUR: After almost three months, the monthly Covid caseload of Vidarbha surpassed the 1,000-mark in June. It took 21 days for cases to enter four figures. With 87 new cases detected in the last 24 hours, the month of June has so far reported 1,064 new cases. With 60 patients recovering in a day, the month’s recovery count reached 542. No death due to Covid has been reported anywhere in Vidarbha region in the last 21 days.
The number of daily tests also surpassed 5,500 on Tuesday as random testing resumed in almost every district of Vidarbha on Monday.
With 87 of the total samples testing positive, the crucial test positivity rate (TPR) once again reduced to under 2% which is a good indicator for the region. Cases are growing at a slow pace and many patients are recovering within a week in home isolation. The hospitalization rate is negligible.
Nearly 596 patients are under treatment in the region. Nagpur district accounted for 324. Out of these 324, only 3 are under treatment and all the others are in home isolation. In the other parts of Vidarbha, less than 10% of the ‘under-treatment’ patients are hospitalized.
The daily test count in Nagpur district surpassed the 2,000 mark on Tuesday with 1,415 tests conducted in the city and 599 in rural Nagpur.
Out of them, 23 from the city and 14 from rural Nagpur tested positive. Thirty patients recovered from the district on Tuesday. These include 28 from Nagpur city (NMC) and two from rural. This suggests that the patients found positive through random testing in Nagpur city have a very mild kind of Covid that is recovering without any complications.
