Police on Tuesday booked the main accused and his aide for breach of peace in connection with Zomato delivery man assault and casteist slur incident on Tuesday.

LUCKNOW: Police on Tuesday booked the main accused and his aide for breach of peace in connection with Zomato delivery man assault and casteist slur incident on Tuesday.
Senior police officials said that the main accused Ajay Singh and his aide Vivek Shukla were called for recording of their statements which were further corroborated with evidence collected and based on that it was found that only the ‘assault’ took place in which both the complainant and the accused suffered minor injuries.

“After preliminary probe, we booked them under breach of peace charge, which is a bailable offence but a probe in the case is still underway,” said SM Abidi, additional deputy commissioner of police, East Zone.
To recall, a dalit Zomato food delivery man was allegedly thrashed by a customer and also faced casteist slur when he went to deliver an order in Lucknow’s Aashiana area late on June 18.
