Agnipath protests: Net services restored in 20 districts of Bihar

PATNA: Internet services were restored in the 20 districts of the state on Tuesday. The internet services had been suspended since June 17 after violent clashes and arson in several parts of the state in protest against the Centre's Agnipath recruitment scheme.
ADG (HQ) Jitendra Singh Gangwar said internet services have been restored as DM, SSP or SP had sought the extension of the suspension."The situation is well under control and there was no untoward incident reported from anywhere," he said.
The internet services were temporarily suspended in Kaimur, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Buxar, Nawada, West Champaran, East Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Vaishali, Saran, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Khagaria, Sheikhpura and Madhubani.
DGP SK Singhal on Tuesday praised the district and senior police personnel for tactfully controlling the violent protests. "The police made arrangements for the maintenance of law and order in a planned manner. As a result, no casualty has been reported in the action taken by the police and the situation was brought under control without delay," Singhal said at a review meeting at police headquarters.
In case of the reccurrence of any such unpleasant situation or serious law and order problem in future, the DGP asked the regional officers and SPs to do resource management. "Pay special attention to the agility and mobility of the police force. There should be communication down the line in the districts. This means the orders issued from the police headquarters should be passed on to the officers/personnel posted in the districts," Singhal said.
