BHUBANESWAR: Soon after news of the ambush spread, Nuapada superintendent of police, Pratyush Diwakar and senior officers of CRPF reached the incident site. "More teams of special operations group (SOG) and CRPF commandos have been pressed into operation that will continue till Maoists are flushed out," said a statement from the state police.
While director general of police Sunil Bansal expressed deep anguish, the government announced Rs 20 lakh to each of the martyr's family.
In May 2019, a local Maoists cadre had surrendered before the police in Nuapada district after cadres of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh allegedly harassed him.
