Ghaziabad cop found dead, syringe and bottlelay nearby

GHAZIABAD: The body of a 30-year-old constable attached with UP police was found in an empty plot in the Pratap Vihar area on Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the deceased was identified as Sumit Kumar, a resident of Bulandshahr. He was deployed in GRP in Baghpat railway station.
Yogendra Malik, SHO of Vijay Nagar police station said that police were informed about the body from a passer-by at 11am.“Immediately a police team reached and identified the Kumar’s body. In 2021, he was deployed in Vijay Nagar police station as well," Malik said.
Police sent the body for autopsy and reports are awaited. They have informed his family members and yet haven’t received any complaint on this matter.
“We have found a syringe, an empty bottle of some medicine and his mobile phone. Police suspect that he had taken drugs through a syringe and then he fell on the road, which led to a severe injury on his head,” Malik added.
Police who don’t have any record of him coming to Ghaziabad are talking to the GRP team about other details as well.
