Uttar Pradesh: 8 killed in accident in Hamirpur district

Eight people died on the spot while nine others suffered serious injuries after a speeding pick-up vehicle collided head-on with an autorickshaw in Maudaha police station of Hamirpur on Wednesday evening.

KANPUR: Eight people died on the spot while nine others suffered serious injuries after a speeding pick-up vehicle collided head-on with an autorickshaw in Maudaha police station of Hamirpur on Wednesday evening.
There were more than a dozen people in the autorickshaw which was hit by the van from the opposite direction on National Highway-34.
Two of the injured are critical and they have been referred to Kanpur.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the deaths and condolences to the families of the deceased.
According to police, the incident took place near Makaraon village when the speeding pick-up vehicle loaded with mangoes collided head-on with the autorickshaw. Locals started rescue operations after alerting police.
All the injured were taken Maudaha Community Health Centre from where a few were shifted to the district hospital and two to Kanpur.
Police rushed the injured to hospitals in private vehicles and an ambulance of the highway authority.
