Patna: A 14-year-old boy allegedly raped a 5-year-old girl of his neighbourhood in Jamui district. The accused has been arrested after the family members lodged a complaint with Barhat police station on Wednesday.
The incident took place Tuesday evening when the girl was playing with the other kids outside her house. The boy lured her to a nearby field, where he allegedly raped the girl.
When the girl’s family members started searching for her, they heard her crying in the nearby field. She was bleeding and immediately admitted to the Sadar Hospital, where her condition was stated to be stable.
Chitranjan Kumar, the SHO of Barhat police station, said a case was registered under Section 375 (rape) of the IPC and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act on the complaint of the survivor’s father.
“The accused was arrested on Wednesday and sent to juvenile home after producing him in the court. The victim’s statement will be recorded on Thursday before the magistrate,” he said.
Kumar said the incident took place around 5pm on Tuesday, during a wedding ceremony in the village.
“The boy admitted that he took the girl to a deserted field with wrong intention, but when she started crying, he left. He denied rape charges. The police have been probing the matter. The rape allegation will be clear only after the medical report of the victim comes. But it was clear that he took the minor to the field with wrong intention,” the SHO said.
