Maharashtra Political crisis News: Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, whose rebellion against the party has pushed the three-party Maha Vikas Aghadi government to the brink of collapse, said a "national party" has termed their revolt as "historic" and assured to provide all help to them.
A video of Shinde addressing the group of rebel Sena legislators at a Guwahati hotel was released by his office here. The video also showed the legislators unanimously authorising Shinde to take further decision on their behalf as their group leader.
In the video, Shinde is seen saying, "Our worries and happiness are the same. We are united and victory will be ours. There is a national party, a 'mahashakti'...you know they vanquished Pakistan. That party has said that we have taken a historic decision and assured to provide all help."

37 rebel Sena MLAs send letter to Dy Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly
All 37 rebel Shiv Sena MLAs who are camping in Guwahati on Thursday sent a letter to Maharashtra Assembly's Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal, stating that Eknath Shinde will remain their group leader in legislature. Earlier in the day, Zirwal had said that he had approved the appointment of Ajay Chaudhary as the group leader of the Shiv Sena legislature party, replacing senior minister Shinde who has rebelled against the Shiv Sena leadership. Shinde on Thursday evening sent a letter to the deputy speaker, signed by 36 Sena MLAs who are currently staying with him in Guwahati. It also informed that Sena MLA Bharat Gogawale has been appointed as chief whip of the legislature party in place of Sunil Prabhu

The political crisis for the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra deepened further on Thursday after state minister leading the dissident MLAs, Eknath Shinde, released videos and photographs claiming that he has the support of 41 MLAs. However, a senior BJP leader here said on condition of anonymity that with few more MLAs arriving in Guwahati on Thursday, where Shinde and other rebel MLAs are camping since Wednesday morning, the number of dissident MLAs camping at the luxury Radisson Blu hotel rose to 44, including Independents and others.

Three more Shiv Sena legislators arrived at a Guwahati hotel where the rebel MLAs led by Eknath Shinde are lodged on Thursday. The three leaders who arrived at the hotel include MLA and Agriculture Minister Dada Bhuse, MLA Sanjay Rathore and MLC Ravindra Phatak. Notably, Phatak was believed to be a close associate of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray who had sent him as an emissary to Surat where the rebel MLAs were lodged. Interestingly, he also joined the Shinde-led faction.

Maharashtra Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan on Thursday alleged that the BJP is behind the political instability in the state and said that the alliance is extending its support to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Chavan alleged that former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is taking instructions from Delhi.
"BJP is behind the political instability that we are witnessing in Maharashtra. It is true that there is some crack in big ally Shiv Sena and some MLAs have parted ways. But the BJP is behind such a situation. Devendra Fadnavis is taking instructions from Delhi and seeking logistical support accordingly. Security increased at Shiv Sena HQ, Matoshree
Amid ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra caused by a rebellion in the Shiv Sena, Mumbai police on Thursday beefed up security at the party headquarters Shiv Sena Bhavan and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's private residence `Matoshree' here. City police commissioner Sanjay Pandey met CM Thackeray at Matoshree to discuss the law and order situation, said an official.

The opposition Trinamool Congress in Assam on Thursday held a massive protest outside the luxury hotel in Guwahati where dissident Shiv Sena MLAs from Maharashtra are camping. Uddhav Thackeray changes mind, decides to dig in?
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has indicated to the media that Uddhav Thackeray has changed his mind about resigning and is not prepared to go down without a fight. "The day they land in Mumbai they will join us," is what Raut said of some of the rebels. Thackeray, who had yesterday offered to quit asCM, called a meeting of Mantralaya bureaucrats today. It was speculated it was a farewell meeting, but it was postponed.

The Eknath Shinde camp has released a video, in which 42 rebel MLAs can be counted. Out of this there are 35 are Shiv Sena MLAs, rest of them are Independents or from smaller parties. Shinde is still two short of 2 MLAs needed for two-thirds to prevent disqualification
What the open letter by the Sena rebel camp said

Shiv Sena has 55 MLAs in the Maharashtra Assembly. To escape disqualification under the anti-defection law, the group led by Eknath Shinde would need a strngth of at least 37 - two-thirds of the total - Yesterday, the letter to the governor had the signature of 34 MLAs, but our reports said four did not belong to the Sena. And that one of them was back in the Uddhav camp. Since then, reports suggest hat 7 more Sena MLAs have reached Guwahati. Which means the number is now 36.
