Lucknow:Accused Mohammad Sagir, who is absconding in the violence that broke out after Jumei prayers on June 10, 2022 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested by the UP Police. During police interrogation, he has confessed to inciting people in the mosque. Sagir has been sent to jail on Wednesday (June 22, 2022). At the same time, the UP Police is still searching for 31 other miscreants who are on the run.

According to media reports, one of the arrested accused Sagir's name is also Dear. He drives an e-rickshaw and also supplies meats along with it. After the violence, he hid in Kareli and saw the opportunity and went to the house of one of his relatives. The atmosphere was waiting to calm down. As soon as the situation returned to normal, he returned, but the police of Khuldabad police station arrested him. During police interrogation, Sagir said that on the day of the incident, he had gone to the mosque in Atala to offer prayers. During this time, he was provoked to perform there. It was only after being instigated in the mosque that he joined the violence along with other miscreants. Later, he was hiding after seeing the police action. During interrogation, Sagir has also revealed the names of other miscreants, whom the police are looking for. DSP I Satyendra Tiwari told the media that the arrested sagir is a resident of Atala mohalla.

Police are also searching for Muttavalli Hafiz of Atala Masjid, councillor Fazal Khan and AIMIM general secretary Shah Alam. All of them are accused of inciting people present in the mosque to violence. Non-bailable warrants have also been issued against all of them. According to a report, a total of 95 named and 5400 unidentified miscreants have been booked in the violence that broke out in Prayagraj. Of these, 31 accused are still said to be absconding. So far, 103 accused involved in the Prayagraj violence have been sent to jail, including some named and some have been identified from CCTV and other footage.
