3 killed, 2 suffer grave burn injuries as fire caught in mud-house in UP's Jaunpur

At least three persons of a family including a woman and a child were burnt to death while two others suffered severe burn injuries when fire caught in a mud house due to leakage in LPG cylinder in Kevtali village under the limits of Maharajganj police station in Jaunpur district on Thursday.

VARANASI: At least three persons of a family including a woman and a child were burnt to death while two others suffered severe burn injuries when fire caught in a mud house due to leakage in LPG cylinder in Kevtali village under the limits of Maharajganj police station in Jaunpur district on Thursday.
Station officer Maharajganj Santosh Kumar Shukla said that Suresh Vishwakarma (32), his sister-in-law Nilam (28) and her son Shivansh (5) were killed in this fire incident while her husband Akhilesh Vishwakarma (30) and other child Yuvaraj (3) were admitted to trauma centre.
Condition of both injured was critical, said police. Bodies were sent for postmortem.
During police investigation it came to light that to boil milk for her children, who were sleeping with Akhilesh inside the mud house, Nilam tried to lit the LPG stove when fire caught in the house due to leakage in cylinder. On seeing it Nilam ran out and raised an alarm. Later, she entered her house to save husband and children.
On hearing her cries Akhilesh’s elder brother Suresh and other villagers swung into action. On getting information police also reached the spot. Before the policemen and villagers could succeed in controlling fire by breaking the roof of house Suresh, Akhilesh, Nilam and both children had suffered severe burn injuries.
They were immediately rushed to trauma centre where doctors declared Suresh, Nilam and Shivansh as brought dead.
