57 in Patna among 116 test Covid positive in Bihar

PATNA: The number of active Covid cases in the state increased to 491 on Thursday with 116 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, including 57 in Patna.
In fact, the number of active Covid cases in the state has registered a 12-time jump in less than a month. On June 1, the state had only 41 active cases and the number has now risen to 491.Patna accounted for majority of new cases this month. While the state capital had 22 active cases on June 1, it went up to 309 on Thursday.
Apart from Patna, other districts which accounted for large number of cases on Thursday were Gaya (35), Bhagalpur (23), Muzaffarpur (14) and Rohtas (10).
As per the health department, the 116 cases registered on Thursday were against 1,56,353 samples tested. In Patna, 4,930 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and reports of 57 came positive. While the positivity rate in Bihar was 0.074%, it was 1.16% in Patna. On Thursday, four Covid patients were undergoing treatment at AIIMS-Patna.
Bihar was at the 14th position in the country as far as count of daily new Covid cases is concerned. Chhattisgarh was above Bihar with 131 Covid-19 cases on Thursday and Rajasthan was below it with 102 cases.
