Kohima, June 24 (EMN): Nagaland’s girls’ football team suffered a heavy defeat against Kerala by 7-0 goals in their second match of the Hero Junior (U-17) Women’s National Football Championship at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium Practice Ground, Guwahati in Assam on Friday.

Much to the disappointment of Nagaland team, the Kerala team scored four goals in the first half and added another three in the second half.

Shilji Shaji’s four goals for Kerala team outclassed Nagaland team in style and put Kerala team in the driver’s seat for the quarter final round. Nagaland still has a match remaining in Group E on June 26.

It is worth mentioning that the Kerala team, with back to back win, is on top of Group E with six points followed by Punjab and Nagaland with three points each. Ladakh are yet to register a point in the tournament.

With eight groups in the tournament, each group leaders will play the quarter final round.

Meanwhile in the other match, Punjab blanked Ladakh by 9-0 to secure three important points.

Two days back, Nagaland team beat Ladakh team by 2-1 goals.
