BJP’s Lok Sabha 2024 plan: Union mins to visit 16 constituencies every three months

BJP’s Lok Sabha 2024 plan: Union mins to visit 16 constituencies every three months
Nagpur: BJP has chalked out a strategy for the Lok Sabha 2024 polls, which includes focussing aggressively on specific 16 seats in Maharashtra. Across the country, just over 140 seats have been identified for this special campaign. While this plan was being discussed by BJP leaders over the last week, a detailed road map has been revealed now.
MLC Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who has been appointed as in-charge of the Maharashtra phase of the campaign, said right till 2024 Union ministers have to come and spend three days in their allocated constituencies.
These 16 constituencies, of which two are in Vidarbha, are currently not in BJP’s kitty.
Bawankule said, “This three-day halt has to be repeated every three months, till we go to polls in 2024. The choice of Union ministers was based on an internal survey in that constituency. We asked people which Union minister they like the most and why. Based on these inputs, we finalized the names of Union ministers who would visit and stay in the constituency.”
Chandrapur (Congress) and Buldhana (Shiv Sena) are the two constituencies in Vidarbha included in BJP’s plan. Ironically, even Chandrapur MP Balu Dhanorkar was a Shiv Sainik before he joined the Congress and won.
While Union ministers will be para-dropped in their allotted constituency, the local level planning is also ready. Bawankule said, “We have identified and appointed workers who will head the coordination committee at the LS constituency level, then those who will take care of it at assembly level. Apart from this, even at taluka level we will have a chain of command.”
The work will be cut out for visiting Union ministers. Bawankule said, “They have to spend two nights in the constituency. From day one they will be interacting with local workers, addressing issues, and helping bridge the gap in governance. On the third day, they will address the media about what all has been done and then depart for Delhi.”

So, has the BJP made up its mind to go it all alone in 2024, despite the current political turmoil in which many Sena MLAs are demanding a tie-up with the saffron party? Bawankule said, “That I cannot comment on. For now, the mandate is to win every seat we contest.”
