LUCKNOW: The capital of the country’s largest state is going to get additional green cover and its urban services are going to be improved further. Lucknow divisional commissioner Ranjan Kumar announced on Friday evening that several projects under the Smart City scheme are going to be commissioned by the end of this fiscal year.
Citing an example, Ranjan Kumar added that the older and congested parts of the city did not have underground sewerage systems.
“But under the Smart City scheme, such localities are going to be connected to the sewerage system as well as other urban services,” said Kumar.

Rajendranagar is one such location in south Lucknow where underground sewerage lines are being laid down at present. “The work has been going on for the past four months and has covered the entire locality. All this while we had raised complaints before the corporators and other elected representatives, but things did not move forward,” said Krishnakant, a private employee from the Rajendra Nagar locality.
Highlighting the importance of technology, Tej Paul Bhatia, head, public services, business unit, India, TCS, said that we have entered the techade, the 10-year window when technology is going to govern the day-to-day life of the people staying in the country.
“I feel that Ayushman Bharat is better than Obamacare. Digital governance is the future model,” said Paul.
Emphasising on the fact that data is the currency of the new age, IPS officer Triveni Singh, who specialises in cybercrime, said, “Private companies and the corporate sector have to come forward to report the crime. They are worried about dent to their brand value and hesitate from reporting cyber offences. From the board to the field levels, awareness about cyber offences and prevention from cybercrimes has to be inculcated,” said Singh.
