LUCKNOW: Unhappy over the slow pace of Aadhaar registration and authentication of students, director general school education, VK Anand, has directed Basic Shiksha Adhikaris to complete the process by July 15. The government’s focus on authentication of Aadhaar cards is to ensure children do not miss on the money sent to their parents’ bank account under the direct-benefit transfer (DBT) scheme for purchase of school uniforms, shoes, socks, sweaters and school bag.
In a meeting with BSAs, he pointed out that in 10 districts, the progress of Aadhaar registration is less than 10%.
Anand also took stock of the dilapidated school buildings where he found the situation below the mark in districts such as Auraiya, Shahjahanpur, Sonbhadra, Mathura, Sultanpur, Hamirpur, and Jaunpur. On Operation Kayakalp project, that aims to transform state-run schools, Anand found that construction of boundary walls, tiling of classrooms and the work of electrification was not upto the mark in several districts.
