RANCHI: The state government has extended the deadline of the inquiry committee, which was formed to look into the circumstances leading to mob violence and the police firing in the city on June 10, to submit its report by a month.
The committee comprising additional director general of police (operations) Sanjay Lathkar and secretary, disaster management, Amitabh Kaushal was formed on June 11 by chief minister Hemant Soren and was to submit its report within a week.
The committee had on June 17 sought an extension of the deadline by a month citing the enormity of the work. Kaushal said, “The extension has been granted. We are examining a large number of important witnesses, video footage and photos, social media messages and documents to finalise the report.” tnn
