PUNE: A teacher from Bhor registered a case with the Bhor police on Thursday, stating a cybercrook cheated him of Rs98,000 in April on the pretext of upgrading his credit card. The suspect took the details of his credit card number and an OTP to transfer the money.
An officer from the Pune Rural police said the complainant is a teacher at an industrial training institute in Satara.
In April, he received a call from a woman posing as an executive from a public sector bank’s credit card department, informing him about the benefits of upgrading his credit card.
“Eventually, when the teacher realised that he had been duped, he filed a complaint with the rural police’s cyber crime cell,” said the officer.
