MADURAI: The Madras high court has granted bail to a man who was arrested on June 2 by the forest department for involving in poaching activities.
The court was hearing the petition filed by C Siva. The case of the prosecution is that when the forest department officials were on a regular inspection near Natham in Dindigul district, they found Siva with a country-made gun, explosives, two dead peacocks and one dead peahen.

The government advocate submitted that the case is of serious nature as a country-made gun and explosives were seized.
However, Siva’s counsel submitted that he was not involved in any offence as alleged. Taking into account the period of incarceration and there was no bad antecedents against the petitioner, justice G Ilangovan granted bail to the petitioner on certain conditions.
The judge directed the petitioner to file an undertaking affidavit stating that he would not indulge in such activities in the future. If any violation is noticed, bail granted by this court, shall stand cancelled automatically.
