Aston Villa are "showing interest" in West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek as his future in London remains in doubt.

The Czech midfielder has spent the last two and a half seasons, scoring 18 goals in 102 games for the Hammers. He has formed a formidable midfield partnership with Declan Rice for David Moyes' side to help them to European football.

After signing from Slavia Prague on a permanent basis, the 27-year-old is halfway through his four-year deal at the London Stadium and has reportedly been in contract discussions after impressing in the Premier League. However, he was told last season that he would not be receiving a pay rise any time soon, despite players like Kurt Zouma reportedly earning in excess of £120k a week.

Contract discussions took place in February and Soucek learned of West Ham's intentions of not offering him a salary increase. Now, clubs across Europe have been alerted by his situation and are considering a move this summer.

With his future at West Ham uncertain, Villa have been rumoured to be one of the teams keen on the midfielder. That's according to The Sun, who claim Steven Gerrard's men are joined by Newcastle United and Everton in "showing interest", with West Ham ready to listen to offers of £30million.

Villa have already added two midfielders to their squad this summer with Phillipe Coutinho's loan move from Barcelona being made permanent and Boubakar Kamara signing in May following the expiry of his contract at Marseille. Robin Olsen and Diego Carlos make up the summer business so far this summer, as Gerrard continues to mould the team of his liking ahead of the 2022/23 season.
