NILA Apps expands operations in Chennai
CHENNAI: Chennai-based NILA Apps, a product company from the house of US-based Technogems, is expanding their operations to meet rising demand for software product development. The company is investing around Rs 1 crore to expand their operations and is moving to a facility of around 15,000 sq ft at Tidel Park, Chennai from their current location in Ekkaduthangal.

Technogems was founded by husband-wife tech entrepreneurs Jean Meslie and Anita Selwyn from Tirunelveli who then moved to the US. The company provides custom web and mobile application development services using Agile, cloud, DevOps and big data technologies and their clients include several small firms to large government contractors.
"We started NILA Apps in Chennai in 2011 with an aim to pay it forward to our region and support talent in tier 2 and 3 towns," Jean Meslie, founder and CEO, Technogems, said. "We invested a lot in training the team in the initial days bringing in a product building culture, '' he added.
NILA apps' app creating solution lets their clients create their own mobile app without having to do any coding work. With the automated DevOps process, NILA Apps clients can release their mobile apps in a reliable manner. For instance, the company built a CRM platform solution for US-based MyStudio that has enabled over 500 martial arts and yoga studios to run their business completely on this platform through membership programs, selling services, merchandise, managing student attendance, automation campaigns and others.
The NILA Apps team comprises around 100 people with 70% of them hailing from towns such as Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Erode and others. It has plans to grow its team to around 150 in the next year to meet rising demand. With an annual revenue of around $10 million, the company expects this to grow to around $15 million in the next two-three years as it stares at a healthy pipeline of projects.
"If our current rate of growth continues in the next two years, we will also explore setting up a larger facility in the state, maybe closer to our roots down South," Meslie said.
