Quarrel over taking photos ends in murder attempt in Coimbatore
COIMBATORE: A man suffered severe injuries in a fight between two gangs in Coimbatore on Friday night.
Police said S Hanifa, 21, of Housing Unit at Pullukadu and his friends visited Valankulam area around 8pm on Friday and took photographs and selfies. A six-member gang was sitting on te benches on the bund of the waterbody. The waterbody was recently developed under the Smart City project.
Hanifa and his friends asked the six- member gang to move away from the locality as they wanted to take photographs.
But the gang members refused to move. A quarrel broke out between Hanifa and the gang members.
Hanifa informed his brothers S Imran Khan, 26 and A Ashif Ali, 23, who came to the spot and attacked the six-member gang. They left the place and went to their residence.
Hanifa was speaking to his two elder brothers at their residence around 10pm. The six -member gang led by H Alauddin, 26, of Sugunapuram came there carrying weapons. They assaulted Hanifa’s elder brother Imran Khan who suffered injuries on his fingers and head. His other brother Ashif Ali suffered injuries on the right and left palms.
Imran Khan and Ashik Ali retaliated and stabbed Alauddin's throat with a knife and attacked him on the back of his head. Alauddin suffered severe injuries on his throat and head. The gang members took Alauddin to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). Police said Alauddin was battling for his life.
Imran Khan and Ashif Ali were also admitted to CMCH.
Based on Alauddin’s complaint, the Race Course police registered a case against Hanifa and his two elder brothers under sections 147, 148, 324 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code.
