KOLKATA: A television actor-cum-model who had taken sleeping pills to kill herself was rescued by Purba Jadavpur police on Saturday after her friends alerted cops following a post she made on social media. Cops broke open the door and took the unconscious woman to a hospital where doctors pumped her stomach before declaring that she was out of danger.
Police said she had issues with her family, which had refused to help her open a boutique.
Cops received a call around 2.30am on Saturday from one of the actor's friends who read her Facebook post. She told cops she feared her friend could be attempting suicide since the Facebook post claimed to be her last.

Cops reached the actor's rented apartment in Mukundapur within 15 minutes. When no one responded to the calling bell and knocks, they broke down the door to find her lying unconscious. There were two empty strips of sleeping pills, suggesting she had consumed them. She was taken to the emergency ward of a nearby private hospital. After the necessary procedures, doctors declared she was out of danger.
The woman, cops said, had been acting in serials and modelling. She had travelled to her home in Kalna a day ago and returned alone. "Back at home, she reportedly had some argument with a family member over financial help that she needed. She claimed the suicide bid was a spur-of-the-moment decision. She switched off her mobile on Friday evening. In her last post, she talked of her struggles before signing off," said an officer.
