DUMKA: An FIR has been lodged against 27 students of a tribal boys hostels of S P College here in Dumka on Saturday for allegedly ragging and beating junior students on the night of June 22.
A group of 40 students from the hostel No. 5 thronged the Town police station in Dumka on Friday evening to submit complaint against the seniors about the harrowing experience they had to undergo.
They claimed that they were even stripped and beaten up black and blue. A formal case was filed on Saturday.
"Our seniors assaulted us with canes and other items indiscriminately after switching off the lights," said one of the victims before the media showing injury marks. Another complaint stated that they were targeted for failing to organise a feast of chicken curry and rice as asked by the seniors.
DIG Sudarshan Mandal and SP Ambar Lakda visited the hostel on Saturday and said FIRs were filed.
