MYSURU: City police successfully trapped all five kidnappers of a minor boy and arrested them near Virajpet in Kodagu within 12 hours of the crime.
One of the accused came into the family as a nursing care provider to the boy’s grandfather five days ago and then planned the crime after learning about their financial background. He, then, teamed up with four friends hoping to clear their loans, but landed in the police net.

After the kidnapped son of a doctor–couple returned home safely, the accused were zeroed in on and caught within record time. The 12-year-old boy went missing around 7pm on Thursday and returned home around 2am on Friday and a few hours later, the accused were nabbed.
“Not much detail can be shared at this juncture. Police officers were with the family throughout the episode,” the commissioner told reporters. Police had formed four teams headed by DCP Pradeep Gunti with two ACPs and four inspectors to uncover the crime.
Commissioner asked the public to do background verification of unknown persons before hiring them for work.
Ransom paid, recovered!
Sources claimed that the kidnappers, aged between 20 and 25 years, had demanded ransom to set the boy free and police used it as a bait to rescue the boy safely and then decide on their arrest.
It worked successfully for the cops, who later recovered the money from them. Interestingly, the accused, after receiving the ransom paid the dues to their lenders and travelled to Virajpet to relax, but their plan went kaput.
Accused initially had other plans of crime, but finalised on kidnapping the boy. Among the five accused, two are drivers by profession and two are nursing care employees, while one is unemployed.
