Prayagraj: Luxury cars, latest fad among denizens of Sangam city

Car lovers in the Sangam city are not second to any big metro city of the country as far as passion for costly luxury cars are concerned. As per the records of the regional transport office (RTO) of Prayagraj, there are over 185 luxury cars registered in the city.

PRAYAGRAJ: Car lovers in the Sangam city are not second to any big metro city of the country as far as passion for costly luxury cars are concerned. As per the records of the regional transport office (RTO) of Prayagraj, there are over 185 luxury cars registered in the city. Going by the number of luxury cars being registered at the RTO office of the district, seems like denizens of the Sangam city have not only defeated the pandemic but have come out shining from the adverse implications of it too.

Despite the pandemic and the economy getting a set back because of the different phases of lockdown, the passion for luxury cars have not died down in the Sangam city. The best category of luxury cars speeding on the broad roads of the Sangam city are enough indication to gauze the passion of costly luxury cars among the denizens of Prayagraj.
Demand for cars like Mercedes, BMW, Audi etc. have been increasing in the city. In the last two years, at least 50 such luxurious cars have been registered at the RTO office of the district.
Presently around 185 luxury cars, whose value is over Rs 50 lacs are registered in the RTO office of Prayagraj. Not only these, but with the value of cars costing over Rs 20 lacs is considered, the city has over 2,500 such cars registered with the RTO of Prayagraj. After 2019, the demand of luxury cars have been increasing in the city.
Every year around 50 such luxury cars are being registered in the RTO office. Although the city does not have showrooms of these costly cars but citizens have been buying such luxurious cars from cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Haryana and even from Punjab.
Most of these cars are being owned by doctors and advocates of the city. The city also has bikes which are valued over Rs 20 lacs. Two such bikes can be spotted randomly at ashok nagar and parade area.
If the data is to be seen, the city has 15 Audi, 22 BMW, 15 Land Rover, 18 Corolla Atlins, 3 Skoda, 40 different variants of Mercedes, 4 Range Rover, 12 Volvo and 4 jaguars etc.
Assistant regional transport officer (administration), Siya Ram Verma says that the number of costly cars is increasing in the city and most of these cars are purchased from outside the Prayagraj and are being registered at RTO Prayagraj.
