Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan congratulated the state cricket team after the Aditya Srivastava-led side created history and captured their maiden Ranji Trophy title, defeating favourites Mumbai in the finals by six wickets at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The MP CM congratulated the captain-coach duo of Chandrakant Pandit and Aditya Srivastava, adding that the entire team and staff, on their return to the state capital, Bhopal, would receive a grand welcome and be felicitated in a public ceremony.

"Today, the entire state of Madhya Pradesh is happy and touched as the state’s cricket team has scripted history. After defeating 41-time champion Mumbai, MP have won the Ranji Trophy title. I congratulate head coach Chandrakant Pandit, captain Aditya Shrivastava and the entire team because it is the victory of the entire unit," the MP chief minister said while speaking to news agency ANI.

"Not only just best wishes but the entire team will receive a grand welcome in the capital city of Bhopal and their achievements will be acknowledged," he added.

Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia who is also from the central state too, congratulated the champions. “#ranjitrophy2022final congratulations team mp on a truly historic win! You have recreated the history of the Holkar era! Well done coach pandit, boys & team MPCA!,” Scinda wrote on Twitter.

Chasing 108 in the fourth innings, Mumbai reached their target with 6 wickets left to win India's premier first-class cricket competition for the very first time.
