Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a major reprieve for colleges offering teacher education courses, Department of Higher Education (DHE) has granted an additional round of centralised online admission counselling for filling vacant seats.

The new registrations will start on June 28 and continue till July 2. The students will be required to get their documents verified online by July 5.

The common merit list will be declared on July 7 and seat allotments will be made on July 15.

The student will be required to report to the college where the seat is allotted to him/her and pay 50 per cent of the fee amount, by July 20, for confirmation of the admission.

This year, DHE had granted a total of three rounds of counselling for admission in BEd, MEd, BPEd, MPEd and other teacher education programmes.

According to information, around 35 per cents seats are still lying vacant in the colleges. Though one more day is left for students to pay fees, colleges believe that not many seats will be filled in one day.

So, they had requested higher education minister Mohan Yadav to grant at least two more rounds of counselling.

“We are happy that an additional round has been granted for admission in BEd courses,” said Indore Mahavidyalaya director Girdhar Nagar.

Devi Ahilya Private Education College Association reiterated its demand that they should be provided with the contact details of students allotted seats in colleges so that allocations could be converted into admissions.

“If provided with contact details, we would have approached students for completion of admission formalities. This will help in increase in admission percentage but the DHE like always did not share contact numbers of students,” said Sunil Pandya, director, Parijat College.
