UP: Who is Nirahua? Know all about Bhojpuri actor and former Bigg Boss contestant who won Azamgarh bypoll

Who is Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua?

Born in February 1979, Dinesh Lal Yadav, popularly known as Nirahua, is an Indian film actor, singer, and producer. He owns the production house Nirahua Entertainment Pvt Ltd. Dinesh Lal Yadav was a contestant on Bigg Boss 6 in 2012.

Political career:

Nirahua joined politics by becoming a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Lucknow on 27 March 2019 in presence of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

On 3 April 2019, he was declared a candidate to contest the 2019 Indian Lok Sabha election from the Azamgarh constituency of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He unsuccessfully contested against Akhilesh Yadav, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Azamgarh winner:

In the recently concluded UP polls in Azamgarh, where a triangular fight was witnessed between the BJP, the SP and the BSP, the saffron party's Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' won by a margin of 8,679 votes.

After winning the election, Nirhua tweeted, "Victory to the people! You have done wonders, people of Azamgarh. This is your victory."

While Nirahua got 3,12,768 votes (34.39 per cent), SP's Yadav secured 3,04,089 (33.44 per cent) votes. BSP candidate Shah Alaim alias Guddu Jamali got 2,66,210 (29.27 per cent) votes.

Family background:

Nirahua belongs to the Yadav community, which is considered as the Other Backward Class (OBC) in Uttar Pradesh.

He comes from the famous Birha Family of Ghazipur.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) already has 62 out of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. The bypoll victory has increased the party's tally to 64, while the count of Akhilesh Yadav's party has come down to three from five.
