Lucknow: Tree plantation marks setting up of ‘nutrition garden’ drive

‘Trees for future: food forest plantation drive’ was held at The Times of India Press in Chinhat on Sunday. The initiative was supported by the department of horticulture and food processing, Lucknow and India Pesticides Limited (IPL).

LUCKNOW: ‘Trees for future: food forest plantation drive’ was held at The Times of India Press in Chinhat on Sunday. The initiative was supported by the department of horticulture and food processing, Lucknow and India Pesticides Limited (IPL). Over 100 fruit trees that included lemon, custard apple, sahjan, imli, amla, bael, guava, kathal and papaya were planted.
Shachi Singh, founder of NGO Ehsaas, said that the Food Forest Initiative is part of the Ehsaas Food Bank Project.
The Food Bank is a support system that ensures access to food and empowers through education, health and livelihood opportunities.
To ensure food security for the poor and marginalized sections, the nutrition gardens and food forest will be set up in many parts of the city.
Ashwini Srivastav, ADRM Northern Railway, Arvind Chaturvedi, IG Vigilance, Chandra Bhushan Tiwari, environment activist, Satya Prakash Gupta, CFO, IPL, Udaya Bhaskar, head, Business Strategy, IPL and S Ramakrishnan, CSR head, IPL were the special guests.
