Goa :Two Covid deaths, 112 cases on Sunday

Goa reported two Covid-19 mortalities and 112 new infections on Sunday. Goa’s active cases are inching towards the 1,000 mark with the active tally currently at 928.

PANAJI: Goa reported two Covid-19 mortalities and 112 new infections on Sunday. Goa’s active cases are inching towards the 1,000 mark with the active tally currently at 928.
Both the deceased were men aged 70 and 75 years and were admitted to Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital for cormobidities. Covid-19 was an incidental finding, the health department stated.

Both had multiple comorbidities, Ischaemic heart disease, hypertension, congestive heart failure, chronic kidney disease etc. Both were vaccinated with two doses but hadn’t taken the precautionary dose.
The 75-year-old had diabetes, chronic kidney disease, peripheral vascular disease, sepsis and congestive cardiac failure.
The 70-year-old had obesity, ischemic heart disease, low EF cellulitis leg with CCF
The last Covid death in the state was reported on June 13. Goa reported nil Covid-19 deaths in April and May. The last time two Covid-19 deaths were reported on a single day was on March 30.
With 950 samples tested, the positivity rate was at 11.7%. Goa’s daily positivity rate is higher than the national average of 2.5% reported on Sunday.
During the day, one patient was hospitalised and the others opted for home isolation.
Goa has been reporting over 100 new cases for the sixth consecutive day.
