AURANGABAD: Rebel MLA from Vaijapur, Prof Ramesh Bornare, apparently called Aurangabad's 4-time former MP Chandrakant Khaire on Saturday evening to tell him that he, along with some others, was ready to return to the party fold and requested Khaire to mediate with Matoshree, reports Mohammed Akhef.
The interaction between Khaire and Bornare was overheard when the former was talking to a news channel.
On realising that it was a call from a rebel, a person standing next to Khaire turned on the speaker of the phone, making the chat audible to all.
Khaire told TOI, "While I was giving a byte, I received a call from Bornare saying he, along with other MLAs, was ready to return. He requested me to mediate with Matoshree." He said with each passing day, more and more MLAs in the rebel camp were willing to return, but were being held captive and pressure tactics were being used to keep them in the Eknath Shinde camp.
"After Bornare asked me to mediate on behalf of the others, I told him I will try to speak for MLAs from our district. The others should find their own way (of reaching out to Matoshree)," Khaire said.
In the chat aired by the channel, Bornare can be heard blaming Sena MP Sanjay Raut for ruining the situation with his statements.
