Greater Noida: Private firm fined Rs 4 lakh for not maintaining tubewells

NOIDA: The water department of Greater Noida authority has imposed a fine of Rs 3.91 lakh on a private firm looking after the water supply network.The action has been taken for negligence in maintaining tubewells and the penalty will be deducted from the amount paid to the firm.
Kapil Singh, in-charge and senior manager of the water department said the fine has been imposed for several instances of negligence in the work.“Greater Noida has been divided into 8 zones for a better water supply system. The responsibility for water supply in zones 2, 4 and 6 rests with this firm. However, it has not been rectifying problems cropping up in different sectors.” “There are several instances in Sector Eta 1, Techzone 4, Chi 4 and Omicron 3 where tubewells went out of order but were not repaired for several days. The firm has been warned of strict action if it does not improve its work in coming days,” the official added.
