Bhubaneswar: Huge quantities of Maoist paraphernalia, empty cartridges and IEDs were recovered from a camp following a gun battle in Mundamaska reserve forest of Kalahandi district on Sunday morning. The recovery comes three days after neighbouring Nuapada district saw Maoist violence with three CRPF commandos gunned down in an ambush.
SP (Kalahandi) Abilash G said empty cartridges of AK-47 and light machine gun (LMG) have been found from the camp site.
“The security personnel also saw them use these weapons during the exchange of fire. Along with electric detonator, IED and live ammunition, we have also recovered daily used items as well as contraceptive pills and utensils,” he said.
“A joint team of Special Operation Group and CRPF commandos was involved in combing operation during which the Maoist camp was busted and the materials recovered. We have destroyed the IEDs,” he added.
