Bihar bags second prize in National MSME Award 2022
Bihar industry minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said that 25% of Industrial land of Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) is reserved for MSME units.

PATNA: Bihar has bagged the second prize in ‘National MSME Award 2022’ to States/UTs for outstanding contributions to the promotion and development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. PM Narendra Modi will give the award in a function to be organised by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises at Delhi on June 30.
An announcement in this regard was made by state industry minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Monday.
“Industrialization of Bihar heavily relies upon the development of MSME sector, which is evident from the fact that out of the total Rs 36,000 crore investment that has been received in past 1.5 years, most of them have come from MSME sector,” Shahnawaz said.
The industry minister claimed that the ‘Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojna (MUY)’ was limited to SC/ST only at the time of its launch in 2018 but it has been inclusive of the Backward, Extreme backward, general and women category from financial year 2021-22.
‘The scheme has proved to be very effective in including youths of Bihar to the path of state’s industrialization. In the fiscal 2021-22, 16,000 beneficiaries were selected under Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojna who are given financial assistance of Rs10lakh,” Shahnawaz said.
He added: “More than 4,000 MSME units have started commercial production under MUY, which have provided employment to 20 thousand youths of Bihar. Besides, more than one lakh employment is expected to be generated by the previous and new lists of beneficiaries under the scheme.”

Shahnawaz said 25% of Industrial land of Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) is reserved for MSME units.
He claimed that growth of 171.67% has been registered under MUY in fiscal 2021-22 as compared fiscal 2019-20. “The budget allocation for the scheme has also been increased from Rs 120.70crs in fiscal 2019-20 to Rs 809.80 crore in fiscal 2021-22,” the industry minister said at the press meet.
Highlighting the schemes to promote MSME sector, Shahnawaz said that PSU (public sector undertaking) cluster scheme, Nav-Pravartan scheme and Mukhyamantri micro, small and medium schemes have provided excellent response so far in last three years.
“A total of 305 cluster have been identified under the three schemes during the period of 2019-2022, of which 197 clusters (equivalent to 64.59%) are completely ready. Efforts are also been put to operationalize Prime Minister Employment Generation scheme, KVIC and SFURTI scheme. We are supporting both state and national level scheme for promoting MSME sector,” he said while telling about future goals.
He added: Bihar has played a major role in promoting the MSME sector during “Azadi ke Amrit Mahotsav” and shall continue to endeavour efforts in this direction. We are hopeful that MSME sector will continue to progress at this rapid rate resulting in generation of plenty of employment opportunity.”
The first and third prizes in the National MSME Award 2022 have been achieved by Odisha and Haryana respectively.
