Bengaluru, June 27 (KNN) Murugesh R. Nirani, Large and Medium Industries Minister of Karnataka has said there's a higher possibility that the Mega Integrated Textile Park will be set up in Kalaburagi district.

Addressing a press conference last week he said that the state government has identified 1,000 acres of land at Kalaburagi and Vijayapura for the textile project.

However Kalaburagi is believed to be a frontrunner to get one of the seven proposed mega textile parks across the country, he stated.

He said that in and around Farhatabad about 1,601 acres of land was acquired by incurring an expenditure of Rs 158 crore for establishing coal-based thermal power plant in 2007.

For setting up the Mega Textile Park on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, the Power Company of Karnataka Limited has now transferred 1,000 acres of land to the Department of Handlooms and Textiles.

The scheme will help in attracting investments and boosting employment generation, at least 25,000 employment would be generated in the initial stage, he added.

Facilities including land, water availability and electricity subsidy will be provided by the state government.

For the first 5 years textile units which be given a subsidy of Rs 2 per unit and 6 per cent annum interest subsidy on term loans. (KNN Bureau)
