NOIDA: The Noida Authority has launched an awareness drive against unauthorised parking in sectors 1, 3 and 5. The Authority staff are making announcements in public address system for people to park their vehicles at authorised parking.
“People are informed that roadside parking is illegal in these areas. They are requested to park their vehicles at the authorised multilevel parking,” a notice on an e-rickshaw read.
According to the officials, two more e-rickshaws will be engaged for the awareness drive.
Dori Lal Verma, senior manager at work circle 1 of Noida Authority said there are three underground multilevel parking lots in sectors 1, 3 and 5 which have several factories and companies. The three parking lots together can accommodate over 1,500 vehicles at a time, but almost half of the space remains vacant.
“We found that many people do not park their vehicles at the authorised parking. The workers and staff of the factories mostly park their vehicles on the roadside. We will also launch an enforcement drive soon,” he said.
“We will also hold meetings with the representatives of business houses and industries in this regard. We will urge them to park their vehicles at authorised parking, after which we will start taking action against those who park their vehicles illegally,” he added.
According to the official data, the three-storey underground parking in Sector 1 has a facility to accommodate 476 four-wheelers and 70 two-wheelers but only 425 four-wheelers and 69 two-wheelers are parked there on weekdays.

The Sector 3 parking gets a relatively poor response, recording 157 four-wheelers against its capacity to park 579 four-wheelers and 121 two-wheelers.
The Sector 5 parking, located in the industrial area, can accommodate 276 four-wheelers and 42 two-wheelers but only 230 four-wheelers are parked there.
To attract people, the parking rates have been kept nominal. Four-wheelers can be parked at Rs 20 for two hours, and then Rs 10 for each additional hour. The maximum parking fee is Rs 80 for a day. The two-wheeler parking is Rs 10 for two hours and Rs 5 for each additional hour. The maximum fee for a day is Rs 40.
