HYDERABAD: Passengers of TSRTC bus travelling between Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad had a narrow escape on Monday when the bus suddenly caught fire near Jadcherla town in Mahbubnagar district in the early hours of Monday.
According to Jadcherla inspector Ramesh Babu, the incident happened between 2 am and 3 am when the TSRTC bus coming from Kurnool to Hyderabad was suddenly engulfed in flames near Divitipally, Jadcherla.

Police said that there were 16 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident and all of them got out safely along with the driver and the conductor.
“It was a non-AC super luxury bus. The fire started in the front due to electrical short circuit. The driver immediately stopped the bus on the road and alerted the passengers to disembark. The fire spread quickly before the fire tender reached the spot and doused the flames," the inspector said.
RTC officials reached the spot and towed away the bus to the nearest facility.
