NAGPUR: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will intensify its anti-encroachment drive from Tuesday with the decision not to return confiscated goods for 30 days, said municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B at a review meeting on Monday.
Radhakrishnan took serious note of the increasing encroachments in the city leading to inconvenience for citizens, traffic issues, parking problems and unhygienic conditions.
He directed all the assistant commissioners from 10 zones to take strict action against encroachments on footpaths and roads.
“No violator should be spared,” the civic chief said. Help from the nuisance detection squad and city police personnel will be sought to ensure encroachment-free footpaths and roads, he said.
“Citizens and shopkeepers must extend all cooperation to implement complete ban on single-use plastic carry bags from July 1,” appealed Radhakrishnan at the meeting, which was attended by additional municipal commissioner Ram Joshi, deputy commissioner Dr Gajendra Mahalle, assistant commissioners Ashok Patil, Prakash Warhade, Vijay Humne, Ganesh Rathod, Harish Raut, Ghanshyam Pandhare, Kiran Bagade and market superintendent Shrikant Vaidya among others.
