Hold special exams for varsity students who were unwell: Congress’s student wing in Goa
If not allowed to give exams students will lose an entire academic year, says NSUI president Naushad Chowdhari
PANAJI: Goa University (GU) should conduct a special examination for undergraduate and postgraduate students who were unable to answer their semester exams due to health issues, demanded Congress’s student wing, National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). It has written to GU and sought a special exam on compassionate grounds.
Semester exams for the graduate and masters programme have already commenced and will conclude by June-end.
The university did conduct special examinations for students for the last semester and NSUI wants the varsity to do the same this year.
“Few of the undergraduate and postgraduate students were not able to answer their semester exams due to their health issues. They have been informed by their college that they have to answer their papers in the next semester exam,” said NSUI president Naushad Chowdhari.
Chowdhari said that the students will lose an entire academic year which will affect their higher studies and employment. “Few of the students have taken education loans to complete their education which costs lakhs. It will be injustice to these students since it is not their mistake that they had health issues,” he said.
NSUI has submitted health reports of the affected students along with the written applications for conducting special exams. Chowdhari said that he hopes authorities will treat the matter with “utmost seriousness” and urgency.
