Lucknow: Minor interfaith couple found hanging from tree

LUCKNOW: Bodies of a minor girl and a boy, both aged 16, were found hanging from a tree in Basti district early on Monday. Initial reports said that the boy, a Hindu, and the girl, a Muslim, were in a relationship. Police said it could be a case of a suicide pact since the families were opposed to their relationship. Bodies of the two were sent for post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.Circle officer, Rudhauli, Ambika Rai, said that around 9 am, information was received from Madhunagar Dih village that two bodies were found hanging with a rope. Police reached the spot and brought the bodies down. tnn
Their relatives told us that the deceased were having an affair for the last few months," said Rai.
The officer also said that the duo was spotted together in the market on Saturday. The family members were infuriated, following which the boy's father also thrashed him on Sunday evening. Their call detail records revealed that the boy spoke to the girl for a long time on Sunday narrating the ordeal he went through, the police said. Police said that the duo had gone missing from their houses on Monday morning and their relatives as well as villagers had begun a manhunt. Later, they found their bodies in a forest area right outside the village. Any further action will be taken based on the autopsy report, the CO said.
