Van Mahotsav: Noida targets 1M saplings

The forest department is making arrangements to celebrate Van Mahotsav from July 1-7 and plant 11,98,096 saplings in the district. The department is also coordinating with the local residents and Authority in this regard.

NOIDA: The forest department is making arrangements to celebrate Van Mahotsav from July 1-7 and plant 11,98,096 saplings in the district. The department is also coordinating with the local residents and Authority in this regard.
Pramod Kumar Srivastava, divisional forest officer (DFO) said that the seven nurseries across Gautam Budh Nagar have prepared 17,49,741 saplings out of which 11 lakh will be planted next week.

“Different government departments like forest, pollution control, registry, Nagar Palika, Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority, Yamuna Authority, irrigation, power, education, traffic and transport, police, horticulture, etc. have been given target numbers for the plantation drive,” he said.
Srivastava said that the forest department is also raising awareness among the public for the drive. “We are identifying land areas for plantation near the ponds, flood plains, residential areas and schools as well as colleges,” he added.
He stated that the monsoon is expected to arrive in the next few days which will make a conducive environment for plantation.
