The state government has launched 25 projects worth Rs 3,856 crore to make Ganga and its tributaries free of pollution under the Namami Gange programme.

Lucknow: The state government has launched 25 projects worth Rs 3,856 crore to make Ganga and its tributaries free of pollution under the Namami Gange programme.
Under the 100-day working plan of the Jal Shakti ministry, 24 sewage treatment plants are ready in different cities including Mathura, Varanasi, Baghpat and Jaunpur. The trial run of STPs has started.
The plants in Mirzapur, Ghazipur, Bareilly, Farrukhabad-Fatehgarh will also be completed soon.
Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh has inspected the projects extensively. Kanpur and Unnao will also soon get the STPs of 30 MLD and 15 MLD capacity respectively.
In Mathura, 20 drains have been tapped and connected to a 30 MLD STP whereas in Jaunpur 14 drains have been tapped and a 30 MLD STP has been constructed to clean the waste water.
