MYSURU: Former minister and MLA G T Devegowda on Monday urged the state government to issue an order to celebrate Nada Prabhu Kempegowda Jayanti in all educational institutions and government offices from this year to commemorate his contributions in building Bengaluru, the capital city of the state.
He was speaking after inaugurating 513th Nada Prabhu Kempegowda Jayanti organised by district administration, department of Kannada and culture at Kalamandir in the city.

He hailed the contributions of the Kempegowda in constructing markets and temples in Bengaluru, donating over 5,000 acres of land for over 200 Mutts during his reign.
Mysuru MP Pratap Simha also highlighted the contributions of Kempegowda who laid the strong foundation for overall development of Bengaluru, which contributes 57% of the total revenue generated in the state.
Earlier, a procession carrying the portrait of Nada Prabhu Kempowda was organised from Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple till Kalamandir. Folk dances like dollu kunitha,veerghase, nagari, tamate, puja kunitha, were part of the procession.
