Prayagraj: Feeling ‘trapped’, girl, 20, opts for gender affirmation surgery

Prayagraj: She developed very strong feelings for her close friend and was confused till she realized that it was a manifestation of the underlying mismatch between her biological sex and her gender identity, and finally 20-year-old female student of BA, a resident of Phaphamau locality of the Sangam City, decided to go for a gender affirmation surgery for turning into a man.
In the first such case for the doctors in Prayagraj, the medical procedure for changing the gender of this girl commenced around four months back, and she will be transformed into a man completely after another eight months. It is the first such case in Prayagraj district and just among a handful in the state.
A team of doctors of MLN Medical college, led by plastic surgeon Dr Mohit Jain and gynaecologist Dr Amrit Chaurasia took up the challenge of changing the gender of the girl.
