Watch: Villagers try to scare away elephant that strayed into residential area from Jharkhand

Villagers of Balasore district in Odisha on their own tried scare a tusker that had entered their village. The tusker strayed into villages near Niligiri town of Balasore district and damaged crops, trees and orchards. The elephant earlier entered Odisha from neighbouring Jharkhand. In the video recorded by locals, people could be seen using drums and crackers to direct the elephant towards the jungle. However, this is a dangerous activity, and the tusker could have very well charged towards the villagers. Ideally, people from the forest department should be involved in such an exercise.
