Rs 48.22 crore spent so far on K-Rail project: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in the assembly that it was Niti Aayog, Union railway ministry and department of expenditure which recommended the Union finance ministry to explore the possibility of loans from international agencies for the K-Rail project.
For this project, till date Rs 48,22,57,179.76 crore has been spent. Of this, Rs 20,82,70,365 crore was spent for general consultancy services for rail development projects of KRDCL.
For the aerial survey Rs 2,08,93,760 crore and for the establishment and contingency charges, Rs 20,50,00,000 crore were spent.

He said so far Rs 1.33 crore has been spent for the survey stone laying as part of the social impact study which is being carried out. About 19,738 stones were ordered and 19,691 stones procured. Of these, 6,744 stones have been laid.
As per the detailed project report, the total project cost is Rs 63,491 crore, of which Rs 33,000 crore (52.70%) will be foreign loan. The Union railway department share will be Rs 2,150 crore (4.89%) and the state share will be Rs 3,253 crore (5.09%).
Through public share it has been decided to mobilize Rs 4,252 crore (6.65%). For land acquisition, Rs 13,265 crore will be required and the fund for this will be mobilized from HUDCO, KIIFB and IRFC, the CM said.
