DUMKA: After over two-and-half months since the cable car collision at Trikut hills under Mohanour police station of Deoghar district, the high-level team formed by the state government visited the spot on Tuesday to formally start the probe.
The team is headed by senior IAS officer Ajay Kumar Singh and it was initially tasked by the government to submit its report within two months.
A separate team of experts assisted the five members during the visit to the accident site around 9 am and they analysed the site for nearly six hours. They also went to the top of the base and inspected the cables and cabin cars apart from checking other equipment installed to make the facility operational.
The team members, including tourism secretary Amitabh Kaushal, tourism director Rahul Kumar Sinha, director of mines and safety Ratnakar Shunki and adviser to the Ropeway National Highway Logistics Management Limited, N C Srivastava, recorded the statement of the victims, staff members of the cable company and locals.
"Some materials used in the cable car facility will also be examined by the respective experts apart from assessing the facilities existing elsewhere in the country to avoid recurrence of such accidents in future,” Singh said. During the April 10 accident in Deoghar, three persons were killed and 46 rescued after being stranded mid-air in the cable cars for close to three days. The Indian Air Force, NDRF and other specialized agencies were roped in for the rescue operations.
