Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Ex-Chief Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee president Kamal Nath here on Tuesday lashed out at the CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP saying they remember Ujjain only at the times of elections and Simhastha. He also charged Chouhan for continuously making hollow announcements.

Nath was addressing a public meeting at Shaheed Park in support of the Congress candidates for the Ujjain Municipal Corporation elections. He said he was distressed to see the condition of roads, drains and potable water supply arrangements of Ujjain. “BJP shows concern towards Ujjain at the time of election and Simhastha Fair only, so that they can do corruption. BJP is in power for almost 18 years and there has been a BJP mayor in Ujjain since 2010. But both Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP are not seeking vote on the issue of corruption, employment and plight of farmers.” “What they gave us: sky-rocketing prices, inflation, unemployment, incidents of rape, violence against children, and failure to tackle situation during corona pandemic,” the ex-CM maintained.

Nath reminded that when he was Union urban administration and development minister, he sanctioned huge money for the development of Ujjain. “When I was CM for 15 months, I spared many hours to think about the vision to develop Ujjain. For development, you should have vision and commitment, both,” he quipped. “Chouhan only believes in making hollow announcements. He made more than 20, 000 announcements in past years and still speaks only lies. I did not make any mistake by waiving the bank loan of farmers, nor committed any sin by making a vision for Ujjain’s development or by implementing subsidised power bills,” he said.

Rajya Sabha member Vivek Tankha, party’s mayoral candidate Mahesh Parmar and City Congress Committee president Ravi Bhadoria also spoke on the occasion. The party candidates in 54 wards were also present on the dais. Devvrat Yadav conducted the proceedings while Ravi Rai proposed a vote of thanks.

'FUTURE MAP ESSENTIAL'

Prior to it, Kamal Nath paid a visit to the Mahakaleshwar Temple to pay obeisance to the presiding deity. He then participated in a meeting of representatives of different walks of life at a private hotel. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Ujjain is the symbol of India’s spiritual strength and a glory of the country. India is not known by its military or economic power but is known due to its ancient spiritual power across the world. He emphaised that the urbanisation in Madhya Pradesh is happening with rapid speed and we have to prepare a road map for development according to the needs and demands of the next 10 years. We would have to consider the capacity of individual cities to sustain population growth. Securing the future of new generation is the biggest challenge for us. Social values cannot be downloaded from google. We have to generate economic activities by promoting the interests of small traders and businessmen. Prepare a blueprint for the year 2035 and start executing the projects and works in phases, the veteran Congress leader added. Prominent among those who expressed views in the meeting included Gautam Chand Dhing, Suhir Bhai Goyal, Pratap Mehta, Rakesh Agrawal and others. Vivek Gupta conducted the proceedings and Kamal Patel proposed a vote of thanks.

'Shivraj must name medical devices park's investors'

RELEASE LIST OF INVESTORS

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference soon after the public meeting, Kamal Nath lamented that CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan shows false dreams to people. He says he would develop Indore on the pattern of Singapore and when he goes to Singrouli he announces that he would develop it as Indore. I cannot match him in doing acting and drama, he should better join Bollywood. Responding to the CM’s announcement of investment of Rs 40, 000 crore in the medical devices park at Ujjain’s Vikram Udyogpuri and 1 lakh jobs to the youths, Nath said CM should first disclose the names of the companies which are making investment. He should also release a list of those persons who have got jobs through such investments previously in the State. He made it clear that the Congress is united and there is no dispute among party leaders. He alleged that the BJP at the Centre are indulging in destabilising the non-BJP and non-Congress governments in various states. “They started doing such malpractices from Arunachal Pradesh. They then tried in Rajasthan and Jharkhand, but failed. What happened in Madhya Pradesh is known to all. Such practices are dangerous for the future of democracy in India,” Nath added.
