NEW DELHI: Unhappy with his wife’s lifestyle, a 30-year-old man allegedly killed her in south Delhi’s Maidan Garhi. A few days after the murder, he even filed a missing complaint with police. The husband was later arrested.
Police said that the man filed a missing complaint at Maidan Garhi police station on Sunday. “He told us that his wife had been missing from his house in Asola village since June 13.
During the investigation, the husband was questioned and he was not able to give proper answers. His role was found suspicious,” an officer said.
Later, the husband broke down and confessed to the killing. He claimed that his brother, who lives with him, was also involved in the crime and was absconding. “On June 14, the accused and his brother, on the pretext of going to their native place in UP, took her to a forested area in Bhati Mines and strangled her and later dumped the body,” the officer said.
A team led by inspector Sandeep Malik from Maidan Garhi police station cracked the case. Deputy commissioner of police (south) Benita Mary Jaiker said the accused came to know that his in-laws had filed a police complaint against him in Bulandshahr regarding the missing and murder of his wife. “For his safety, he also lodged a missing report. The accused sells shoes and slippers in weekly markets,” the DCP said.
Upon the instance of the accused, the deceased’s body was recovered. Efforts are on to arrest the co-accused.
